Robert Goodes plea of guilty to the charge of assault and battery was perfunctorily accepted by the trial court.[Footnote 1] Goode had entered his plea of guilty in reliance upon a plea bargaining arrangement with the State. Later, at the time of sentencing, the trial court refused to accept the States recommendation that Goode be fined $500.00 and be given a sixty (60) day suspended sentence. Goode received a fine of $500.00 and was sentenced to a term of sixty (60) days on the Indiana State Farm.
